I don't feel sorry for Thomas because he has no remorse. He cried because he got caught and humiliated. Douglas seemed fine and was pleased as punch at the outcome. Next time, instead of emotionally abusing his son, Thomas needs to come up with a better plan to get the woman he wants. Try the old-fashioned way of simply going out on dates and spending time together to get to know each other, instead of using his son in some hare-brained scheme.
Why does Thomas have low self esteem of himself? He shouldn't have been obsessed with Hope Logan in the first place. He's a nice looking guy, probably better looking than Liam and he could have a real relationship with someone who really cares about him. Hope is not worth it and never was.
I consider Thomas mentally ill and because of that, I felt sorry for the deception and trickery. Having said that, I agree with an earlier poster, what about what he did to Emma and the cruelty towards Zoe, Zander, and Flo. Thomas and Hope have equal rights to Douglas now and I think any judge would rule in her favor when it comes to primary (if not sole) custody given Thomas's abuse of his son and his crimes which include arson and vehicular manslaughter.
If Caroline could voice her preference from beyond the grave, I dare say she would also prefer her son to be with Hope than the abusive nitwit Thomas.
