I felt Thomas's speech was very sincere. I know a couple of people that were in that dark space, it took alot of work but they're a totally different person now.
D, it's been my experience as well that people can change once they're committed to it. And, if you ask me, Thomas seems committed to being a better father to Douglas and a better person overall. To say that he will be a bad father based on his past actions is quite presumptuous. He may face times when there might be struggles but I believe he can overcome them. As I said some time aback, I don't think the writers would go through Thomas having a tumour which caused his behaviour, and thereby redeeming his character, only to have him revert to his old ways.
I enjoyed today's episode. I liked both speeches by Thomas and Ridge. About time Ridge thank Taylor for the family she has given him considering the hell she had gone through giving birth to his children.

Hope is not supposed to count as Douglas' mom even though she adopted and was raising him, but Eric counts as Ridge's dad even though it is a similar situation. The only time Eric didn't count as Thomas and Steffy's grandfather was when Taylor was having an affair with Eric. Thomas and Steffy started calling him Eric instead of Granddad. Now that Taylor and Eric are split up, it's back to Granddad. The Forrester's remind me of the song I'm My Own Grandpa.
Maur, I agree. Brooke has been a character for 35 years and deserves a new man that is better than Ridge. Either of the actors that played Ashland Locke on The Young and the Restless would be perfect as a new character that falls in love with Brooke. Hold up. What did Thomas do to Hope? Stalk her? Did he threaten her? Acted violently against her? What? Hope, with all of her good sense, decided to marry Thomas on her own for the sake of Douglas even though everyone told her that she shouldn't. She then subjected herself to going through the agony of trying to consummate their marriage ALL ON HER OWN. Hope's grown and made her own decisions and seems to have gotten past it just fine. The only one that has not gotten past it is Brooke.
So, my point was, that katy is hesitant to forgive and go back to bill, because of what brook and bill has done to her in the past, and katy has very good reasons for that.. however, katy “fluttering” her eyelashes at carter, is not the same as what brook and bill did to her.. but as you pointed out Maur, perhaps you are right, bill is the best option for brook, because as you also pointed out in not so many words, they have so much in common, such as their narcissistic personality disorder.. it’s alway about them and pee off everyone needs else.. That was actually a really good episode, the only annoying thing being the Taylor fakeness. I can't even believe I have to call this person Taylor since she has next to nothing to do with the real deal. But the dialogues weren't mind-numbingly stupid and repetitive, there were some nice surprises (like the Eric portrait and the Sheila almost-reveal), everyone looked so nice - loved Brooke's dress and everything about Li. Deacon looks so good for his age, it's like time hasn't touched him at all. Maybe, just maybe the show is picking up again?
I liked the way they dressed Hunter Tylo better than the way they dress the new actress. That dress was so tight that I thought the seams were going to burst. Hunter Tylo was dressed classier. Steffy's dress was cut so high in the front that it made her look trashy, which is a shame because the actress is beautiful. I loved Li's dress. She was beautiful and classy. Deacon really does look good for his age. He looks like he really takes care of himself.
@D Ah I've watched since the beginning and think life is easier if you're not a fan of any one family. They all make mistakes and being a fan of one forces you to always have to rationalize them or look for ways to one-up the other. But if you watch on YouTube the older episodes (they are all in an account called boldandbeautiful) you'll see how much more substance there used to be in the show. While Ronn Moss and Hunter Tylo were playing it was more exciting because there were always references to the past, uncovering secrets etc. This Steffy Hope etc stuff is so tedious and silly in comparison. But one thing you should know is that Ridge is not Eric's son. His mom Stephanie hid his actual paternity - a businessman Massimo Marone. That's why some people here (me included) speak up when Steffy and Thomas cry "Forrester" so loudly - because technically they aren't and they either should be told (by their dad) or should remember it. Eric is a great Dad who took the high road immediately (also because he had secrets of his own of course) but they act more entitled than all the actual Forrester children combined.
@Joy Hunter Tylo was superior in every way. I don't want to repeat myself since I have the feeling under every episode I bring her up, but she is the only Taylor there is. She was also much much much more plausible as a psychologist.
@M.D I agree about Hunter. I was such a huge Taylor fan but this new actress is making me not like the character. It's either the show finds a new actress or they make it clear to this actress that she needs to watch HT Taylor and try to emulate her because this actress is just dragging the Taylor character through the mud. I have never seen HT Taylor all coy and giggly over Ridge the way this one is. The old Taylor had moved on from Ridge and even though she would say that she will always love him, she was not actively pursuing him. Matter of fact, she would get into it with Brooke just to poke fun at her and not really because she wanted Ridge back. And speaking of Brooke, HT and KKL had amazing chemistry as opponents/competitors for Ridge.
@Elle you speak my mind about Taylor. And you're right that it can't really be helped, Krista Allen is at the end of the day doing her best by emulating HT. But like you say HT has never been this giggly and highschoolish around Ridge (either one). She had so much poise, I swear she was really entering the role and thinking as Taylor every time she was on screen. I noticed you wrote somewhere that HT has had hard personal time and that's why not acting :( I read the same. Can only hope and wish her all the best and to know I (and apparently others) haven't forgotten her.
M.D and Ell, you guys are right.. it must be very difficult to be hired to take on a role that was built from scratch by someone else.. I believe that, often times actors can’t help but put their own personality spins into the characters they play.. I have heard many actors say that they do that.. and if would be easy to do, so trying to portray someone else’s role that was developed over decades would be really hard to do.. I think that Krista Allen is a very layed back personality in real life, and it shows.. and I also detect some lack of self confidence traits in there.. even very attractive people can have major lack of there..
And not only that, brook is portrayed as a very stuck up snobbish person, and I think krista Allen wants the audience to view Taylor as much different to brook.. I think she could benefit from either watching older episodes, which wouldn’t be difficult to binge watch if it’s for the purpose of researching your character..

Brooke wants to pick a fight with Taylor because she is realizing that Ridge is pulling away from her. Douglas told his dad that he misses being with him and it was then that Thomas spoke to Hope about the possibility of having Douglas live with him. It also wasn't until he had fully made up his mind about it that he spoke to his family so Taylor had no idea beforehand that Thomas wanted Douglas to live with him. So Brooke is wrong to say that it is Taylor's fault for pushing this to happen. Also, when Ridge and Brooke spoke about it, Ridge made his position very clear on the matter. Why doesn't Brooke blame Ridge then? Or does she think Taylor has somehow manipulated Ridge's mind as well?

I have a feeling that Thomas is not going to return Douglas to Hope. Thomas has no reason for why he was absent in Douglas' life. If he had time to go surfing at Steffy's and throw grapes with Taylor, he should have had time for Douglas. He could have taken Douglas with him to Steffy's and taught him how to surf. Thomas should get him half of the time and Hope should have him half of the time. I loved Li and Donna's dresses. They looked very classy. Especially Li. I wonder why Ridge and Taylor were giving Li such hard looks.
Yes Li's dress and matching handbag were pretty, and Donna's green dress was beautiful. Taylor's dress looks like something a Vegas hooker would wear, and Steffi's looked like mishap with a sewing machine. I did not mean this episode in particular. Ridge frequently puts his hands around Taylor's waist or if they're sitting together, he would place his hands on her leg. He is also always pulling her in for hugs. Because of how intimate Ridge is with Taylor in a general sense, I am saying that she probably feels comfortable in being that way with him as well.

I think she was surprised how happy ridge was and when he thanked Taylor for his family, and When he said, to steffy and Thomas, that he promised they could call him anytime, and he promised he would be the best he could be for them from now on, Donna jumps on the phone to brook. I said they would scheme with brook, and I am confident it’s going to happen.. they will scheme to turn Eric against Thomas which will in turn , turn ridge against Thomas and make him think he hasn’t changed.. brook is a master manipulator.. she knows exactly what to do.. and she will use Donna and put donnas relationship with Eric at risk, because when they find out it was them scheming, and they will find out , they always do.. it will blow up in there faces..

Lynn, M.D stated that Thomas received no punishment for "what he did" to Emma to which I stated that he did nothing to Emma. Yes, he chased her with a car but who gets punished for chasing anyone with a car? So I figured punishment was probably for Thomas leaving Emma to die because I have seen it said many times that he just left her there and did not attempt to help her. As such, I compared it to Brooke and Hope leaving Thomas in the acid and covering it up. When Ridge could not find Thomas, Brooke nor Hope told him what had happened. In my opinion, they are two similar scenarios, in that, they resulted in the persons covering up the incidents.

The facts are, Emma was looking at her phone when she went off the road, and Thomas did not slip into the bay of acid, he was trying to reassure hope that he was not going to do anything to her and just wanted to talk to her, she tried to get past him and bumped him into the acid.. I will agree that hope didn’t mean to do that, it was an accident, but , having said that, hope and brook lied about it to ridge, and would have kept that lie till the day they died.. but Thomas came back.. brook even went to the lengths of getting ridge to believe Thomas deserted Douglas by bashing Thomas’s character to ridge.. so NO ONE is innocent on this show.. EVERYONE has done shady things.. hope making Thomas believe he had a chance with her to get him to sign custody is NOT innocent..
The only reason the model (Emma) was looking at her phone at all was because she was trying to call 911 because Thomas was in hot pursuit. It’s not like she decided to scroll through FB at that time! She was racing on that windy road afraid for her life because she was being chased by a madman. Here is the bottom line, if Thomas hadn’t been chasing her in a car on that mountain road, she would not have crashed. Where I come from, we call that manslaughter. And he should be in prison for being responsible for her crash and ultimately her death. And I never said the Logans are perfectly innocent. What I will say, is that I think the “Forresters” who apparently really aren’t Forresters at all 🤣🤣🤣 are much more conniving and dangerous than the Logans. I just saw this episode because it was not available yesterday. So glad Donna didn't reveal a portrait of herself. Way too soon for that. As for the whole Thomas vs. Hope situation. I think he should get his own house, then they can start with equal visitation for a year. Then let Douglas decide where he wants to live.

ReplyDeleteD, it's been my experience as well that people can change once they're committed to it. And, if you ask me, Thomas seems committed to being a better father to Douglas and a better person overall. To say that he will be a bad father based on his past actions is quite presumptuous. He may face times when there might be struggles but I believe he can overcome them. As I said some time aback, I don't think the writers would go through Thomas having a tumour which caused his behaviour, and thereby redeeming his character, only to have him revert to his old ways.

@M.D. That's why I don't like the writing on the Douglas story. Hope is not supposed to count as Douglas' mom even though she adopted and was raising him, but Eric counts as Ridge's dad even though it is a similar situation. The only time Eric didn't count as Thomas and Steffy's grandfather was when Taylor was having an affair with Eric. Thomas and Steffy started calling him Eric instead of Granddad. Now that Taylor and Eric are split up, it's back to Granddad. The Forrester's remind me of the song I'm My Own Grandpa.

Hope, with all of her good sense, decided to marry Thomas on her own for the sake of Douglas even though everyone told her that she shouldn't. She then subjected herself to going through the agony of trying to consummate their marriage ALL ON HER OWN. Hope's grown and made her own decisions and seems to have gotten past it just fine. DeleteThat was actually a really good episode, the only annoying thing being the Taylor fakeness. I can't even believe I have to call this person Taylor since she has next to nothing to do with the real deal.
ReplyDeleteBut the dialogues weren't mind-numbingly stupid and repetitive, there were some nice surprises (like the Eric portrait and the Sheila almost-reveal), everyone looked so nice - loved Brooke's dress and everything about Li.
Deacon looks so good for his age, it's like time hasn't touched him at all.
Maybe, just maybe the show is picking up again?
I liked the way they dressed Hunter Tylo better than the way they dress the new actress. That dress was so tight that I thought the seams were going to burst. Hunter Tylo was dressed classier. Steffy's dress was cut so high in the front that it made her look trashy, which is a shame because the actress is beautiful. I loved Li's dress. She was beautiful and classy. Deacon really does look good for his age. He looks like he really takes care of himself.

Delete@D Ah I've watched since the beginning and think life is easier if you're not a fan of any one family. They all make mistakes and being a fan of one forces you to always have to rationalize them or look for ways to one-up the other. But if you watch on YouTube the older episodes (they are all in an account called boldandbeautiful) you'll see how much more substance there used to be in the show. While Ronn Moss and Hunter Tylo were playing it was more exciting because there were always references to the past, uncovering secrets etc. This Steffy Hope etc stuff is so tedious and silly in comparison. But one thing you should know is that Ridge is not Eric's son. His mom Stephanie hid his actual paternity - a businessman Massimo Marone. That's why some people here (me included) speak up when Steffy and Thomas cry "Forrester" so loudly - because technically they aren't and they either should be told (by their dad) or should remember it. Eric is a great Dad who took the high road immediately (also because he had secrets of his own of course) but they act more entitled than all the actual Forrester children combined.
Delete@Joy Hunter Tylo was superior in every way. I don't want to repeat myself since I have the feeling under every episode I bring her up, but she is the only Taylor there is. She was also much much much more plausible as a psychologist.
Delete@M.D I agree about Hunter. I was such a huge Taylor fan but this new actress is making me not like the character. It's either the show finds a new actress or they make it clear to this actress that she needs to watch HT Taylor and try to emulate her because this actress is just dragging the Taylor character through the mud. I have never seen HT Taylor all coy and giggly over Ridge the way this one is. The old Taylor had moved on from Ridge and even though she would say that she will always love him, she was not actively pursuing him. Matter of fact, she would get into it with Brooke just to poke fun at her and not really because she wanted Ridge back. And speaking of Brooke, HT and KKL had amazing chemistry as opponents/competitors for Ridge.
Delete@Elle you speak my mind about Taylor. And you're right that it can't really be helped, Krista Allen is at the end of the day doing her best by emulating HT. But like you say HT has never been this giggly and highschoolish around Ridge (either one). She had so much poise, I swear she was really entering the role and thinking as Taylor every time she was on screen. I noticed you wrote somewhere that HT has had hard personal time and that's why not acting :( I read the same. Can only hope and wish her all the best and to know I (and apparently others) haven't forgotten her.
DeleteM.D and Ell, you guys are right.. it must be very difficult to be hired to take on a role that was built from scratch by someone else.. I believe that, often times actors can’t help but put their own personality spins into the characters they play.. I have heard many actors say that they do that.. and if would be easy to do, so trying to portray someone else’s role that was developed over decades would be really hard to do.. I think that Krista Allen is a very layed back personality in real life, and it shows.. and I also detect some lack of self confidence traits in there.. even very attractive people can have major lack of there..

DeleteBrooke wants to pick a fight with Taylor because she is realizing that Ridge is pulling away from her. Douglas told his dad that he misses being with him and it was then that Thomas spoke to Hope about the possibility of having Douglas live with him. It also wasn't until he had fully made up his mind about it that he spoke to his family so Taylor had no idea beforehand that Thomas wanted Douglas to live with him. So Brooke is wrong to say that it is Taylor's fault for pushing this to happen. Also, when Ridge and Brooke spoke about it, Ridge made his position very clear on the matter. Why doesn't Brooke blame Ridge then? Or does she think Taylor has somehow manipulated Ridge's mind as well?

DeleteI have a feeling that Thomas is not going to return Douglas to Hope. Thomas has no reason for why he was absent in Douglas' life. If he had time to go surfing at Steffy's and throw grapes with Taylor, he should have had time for Douglas. He could have taken Douglas with him to Steffy's and taught him how to surf. Thomas should get him half of the time and Hope should have him half of the time. I loved Li and Donna's dresses. They looked very classy. Especially Li. I wonder why Ridge and Taylor were giving Li such hard looks.

He is also always pulling her in for hugs. Because of how intimate Ridge is with Taylor in a general sense, I am saying that she probably feels comfortable in being that way with him as well.

I think she was surprised how happy ridge was and when he thanked Taylor for his family, and When he said, to steffy and Thomas, that he promised they could call him anytime, and he promised he would be the best he could be for them from now on, Donna jumps on the phone to brook. I said they would scheme with brook, and I am confident it’s going to happen.. they will scheme to turn Eric against Thomas which will in turn , turn ridge against Thomas and make him think he hasn’t changed.. brook is a master manipulator.. she knows exactly what to do.. and she will use Donna and put donnas relationship with Eric at risk, because when they find out it was them scheming, and they will find out , they always do.. it will blow up in there faces..

@Lynn very true. I always wonder if he got any punishment for what he did to Emma that girl he chased with the car. Or do people even know about it. He was a psycho. At first I was all "he should be with his son, he's his bio father" and that's true, but the bigger question I didn't consider is if he's already fit and what proof does anyone have he is. Okay he's not outright abusive and talking to Hope-mannequins and whatever else he was doing, but has any actual (not his mommy fake Taylor) psychiatrist evaluated him?

Yes, he chased her with a car but who gets punished for chasing anyone with a car? So I figured punishment was probably for Thomas leaving Emma to die because I have seen it said many times that he just left her there and did not attempt to help her. As such, I compared it to Brooke and Hope leaving Thomas in the acid and covering it up. When Ridge could not find Thomas, Brooke nor Hope told him what had happened. In my opinion, they are two similar scenarios, in that, they resulted in the persons covering up the incidents.

EVERYONE has done shady things.. hope making Thomas believe he had a chance with her to get him to sign custody is NOT innocent..

I think part of the reason Hope wanted to get custody of Douglas was because she knew how horrible of a father Thomas had turned into and she did not want that madman raising a little boy that she clearly loved and was justifiably concerned about. It wasn’t Hope trying to manipulate Thomas for purely selfish reasons, not that he didn’t absolutely deserve it for all he had put Hope through, but she was doing it very much for Douglas’s sake too!!!
lol doesn't brooke realize if she was indeed that important in the forresters that she would be at the party like her sister or on ridges arm since they are destiny..nope taylor is there basically on his arm sharing the night with him. while yet again brooke is over there with hope planning there vindictive ways to keep a child that is not blood to either one of them
ReplyDeleteI just saw this episode because it was not available yesterday. So glad Donna didn't reveal a portrait of herself. Way too soon for that. As for the whole Thomas vs. Hope situation. I think he should get his own house, then they can start with equal visitation for a year. Then let Douglas decide where he wants to live.
ReplyDeleteForever 36, I think you r spot on there!! Maybe not for a year, perhaps six months, and by then hope should adjust, then see how Douglas feels.. if it’s not clear, then give it a few more months, and so on, until Douglas can decide what he wants comfortably and we’ll adjusted…
