ReplyDeleteRidge is not happy, he had to go with trying to save Eric, over claiming his estate right now. He wanted to so badly be the one who pulled the plug. Go Thorne, lay it on Ridge! So what if Eric needs tubes and monitors for a short time! Weak-@ss argument for killing him without trying to save him. Yay! Guilt won out! Also Ridge doesn't need a mutiny when he attempts the top power position.
DeleteRidge is more afraid that this treatment is experimental and unproven , and that his father may come out stuck in hospital till the end of his days.. That is fair enough imo!! He is in a very difficult position.. as it stands, he is going completely against his father’s wishes!!
DeleteAt least we have somebody with a bit of sense. I agree Colly. All this BS that Ridge only wants the company, blah blah blah. Unless you were in that situation you wouldn't have a clue. Ridge is going by what his father wanted. All the rest is emotional blackmail.

DeleteAussiedeb, I posted this on previous day also, all these unfair comments.. When Ridge found out, he pushed to look into treatment options, and even went to see Eric’s doctor behind Eric’s back, to see what else could be done to save his dad, but Eric kept pushing that’s not what he wanted, so no one can say Ridge just wants to kill his father off!! Ridge told Donna, why isn’t Eric looking into treatments, and Donna was the one who told him Eric didn’t want that, he just wants to “live till he dies”.. So the way Donna and viewers are making Ridge out to be now, is totally unfair..
DeleteRidge originally wanted treatment for his dad, but he was appointed medical power of attorney, and Ridge now understands clearly why Eric did that.. He knew no one else would follow his wishes..
Now everyone (characters and viewers) are coming down on him for wanting to do what his father wished for, and expects him, and made him “promise” to do, and are now pressuring him to do what he originally wanted to do anyway.. That’s why he rushed turning the life support off.. He didn’t want everyone pressuring him to go against what his father asked him to promise to do..
No one seems to understand or comprehend that Ridge is in a very bad position.. does he do what he wanted to do all along, or follow his dad’s wishes?? Can you imagine being in that position??
It’s experimental, he could come out a vegetable, and stuck in a hospital bed, it is not a “proven treatment”, if it doesn’t work, Eric will b furious, and Ridge has to live with that, no one else!! Donna is not being fair towards Ridge at all, but I also understand she is devastated, emotional, angry at the world, and struggling to let go, which is normal in this situation..
I am not a Ridge fan, however, it’s very clear how much he loves his dad, and is trying his best to do what his father wants and expects of him.. He is trying to be Eric’s voice, and Eric can’t tell Ridge what he wants.. I think Ridge has proven from the beginning of all of this, that he truly loves his dad, and it’s NOT about money or status or controlling the company, because he and Steffy are the majority share holders anyway..
Even if Eric really did win the competition, Ridge could still have stopped his dad taking the CEO position anyway.. Winning that competition under the agreement that if he wins, he gets his office back, was the ONLY way Eric could get it back, because he has the most minimal shares now.. Ridge has been awesome through this whole SL.. Give the man a break!! Until you are in that position, you can’t comprehend how difficult this sort decision and situation is.. If the treatment was proven, I have no doubt Ridge would not have hesitated..

Yep!! 🤣🤣🤣 Mills, I have always loved thorn too.. I hope they keep him on.. I get Donna is very emotional, but I didn’t like the way she she told Thorne Ridge was going to unplug the life support.. she better than anyone else knows, he didn’t want to b stuck in a hospital bed hooked up the machines.. The daggers she gave him when she said it.. No need for that at that time.. But I get it though, emotions make us say things we shouldn’t, especially anger.. Thorne was right about the other kids not seeing him, which pulling the plug could have been held off till they did.. I just hope Eric doesn’t get angry at Ridge for going against his wishes..

DeleteI also didn’t like Donna’s tone but also understand her. Very difficult place to be in… And yes Thorne was right about the other kids, if only he can bring them now… if Eric has to wait especially for his daughters to return, he may have to get a total upgrade to last 90 more years 😅🙈

I think the scriptwriters overlooked a small issue , I believe Doctors may not legally operate on family members.

DeleteYes, true Debbie, emotions can compromise their ability to act in crucial times like the end of this episode.. but soap writers are so lazy as it is, especially when it comes to researching..
DeleteI get it now, it was a stem cell transplant not lung.. both procedures are normally done on their own, they normally transplant the stem cells into bone marrow, but they combining the blood filtering along with it in the hopes that the stem cell transplant will work better and more quickly with cleaner blood, combined with the addition of a lot more T cells, it won’t have as big a load to carry.. T cells also known as Killer cells, are the cells they are talking about that they hope the cancer cells will bind to, the more T cells in his blood, the quicker they can take control of the cancer and wipe it out..
ReplyDeleteI would not necessarily call this cutting edge technology, they are just combining two cancer treatments to give his odds a better chance so the burden to his body isn’t as great, and doesn’t have to try and produce or do all of this on its own.. At his age, the body obviously doesn’t function as efficiently as it used to.. it’s kind of like a body builder who takes steroids to get better results much more quickly.. that’s about the easiest way to explain it without all the medical jargon..?
The writers count on soapy watchers not understanding, but it’s not cutting edge, just common sense using what they already know and use.. But I must say it’s very clever idea!! If the writers were smart, they should have had Finn come up with the idea, and he win a Nobel prize for this new “cutting edge” technology” 🤣🤣🤣
Also, the body only has around 4-5 litres of blood, so when Eric started to haemorrhage, and with much of his blood also being filtered and absent from the body, there was not enough blood for the heart to pump to his major organs, which caused low oxygen (hypoxia), so his heart rate to spiked, in an effort to get as much blood containing oxygen to the organs, but due not having enough and losing blood rapidly, he became hypoxic (low oxygen) and tachycardic (heart failure)… They have to stop the hemorrhage and close him up… The second medication Finn told the anesthetiser to administer was Adrenaline, which we naturally produce in times of physical or mental stress or when body goes into survival and fight or flight mode…
DeleteI went through all this in 2016 when I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Think I may have mentioned it when Finn first started looking into the "breakthrough
Deletecutting edge technology". I knew exactly what they were talking about and mentioned it here a couple of times. Given Eric's age I don't know if he has much of a chance. But you never know in soapland. I have been in remission ever since. On one tablet a day (Revlimid/Ledalidamine) is keeping me alive. The most up to date treatment on the market back then.
That's not to say Eric's medical prognosis is the same as mine but very similar.

Yes, this “breakthrough new technology” has been around for a long time in reality!! It’s much less invasive and doesn’t damage other cells or organs like Chemo therapy does.. Also , much faster recovery time, less side effects such as hair loss , and generally doesn’t make you feel sick and vomit, and works much faster than Chemotherapy.. And I am very familiar with the medication you are on.. It’s so much better than any other treatment previously, and can target many of the more serious cancers without being invasive and is generally well tolerated and less side effects to old treatments, depending on the person.. How do you tolerate the medication?? Do you get any unpleasant side effects?

DeleteI agree with Colly also. And I have multiple myeloma like Aussie Deb and had a stem cell transplant back in 2010. I am in remission also but still had to get heavy chemo for 2 days before the transplant to kill the immune system, lost my hair and after the 17 days in the hospital still had to go to chemo sessions twice a week for almost a year. This show is not too realistic and this procedure is not new cutting edge. They would not try this on someone as old as Eric is. They don’t do it on anyone who is older than around 70 years old.

DeleteAlso the pen Finn is using is heat pen. Best way to explain, is it’s like a welding gun.. If an organ or vein is accidentally cut with a scalpel they basically scorch the area and causes further injury, so the tissue melts and coagulates the wound shut, which then causes the body to wrap the wound in fibrin, a protective mesh, then the blood clots and the bleeding stops.. That’s why you can hear a “sizzling” sound when Finn goes in with the pen.. no one probably wants to know all this 🤣🤣🤣

ReplyDeleteIt has to be stressful wanting to be at the hospital but not being there. There's no reason why they can't be there. Hospitals are big buildings. There are plenty of waiting rooms, a cafeteria, and usually a chapel. And if I was there at the hospital I would have someone bring me some comfortable clothes to put on. But of course these daytime dramas are not very practical. They don't do things the average person would do. I hope Luna's mother does move to LA. I want to see Li furious about her sister being happy and making friends.

ReplyDeleteI think it was definitely written that way to create this type of vibe. Similar to when Finn was hugging Hope. They just plant such moments to then decide which one to build on.

DeleteI am coming to Brooke’s defense. She wasn’t wearing it like that when she was standing up. But when you sit down in a man’s fitted suit jacket (whose shoulders are far too big for you), then the jacket will fall off your shoulders when you sit down. It’s not Brooke trying to be sexy, it just happens when you sit. I speak from first hand experience. 😁😁😁

I don’t blame Ridge for wanting to honor Eric’s wishes. But I do blame Ridge for wanting to be so incredibly hasty about turning off life support before the other family members had a chance to come to the hospital and say goodbye to Eric. Nothing needed to happen in a matter of hours. That was ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI think Ridge knew that if all the family were present, it would be all of them against him and his decision.. The decision was hard enough to make with who was there arguing with him, making him feel guilty (not intensionally), such as when Donna said “if you love your father”, which was unfair, and making him feel guilty.. To be the voice of someone who has no voice, having to let a person you love so dearly is emotionally hard enough, then to have the whole family at you to do the opposite, it’s so hard to do what you know is right.. He already caved with just the few family members that were there, nevermind if they were all there.. and he is the one who has to live with it not the family, if something goes wrong and his father ends up exactly where he didn’t want to be, having trusted in Ridge to keep his promise.. I see it a lot.. I can see both sides which is the hardest thing to watch.. but at the end of the day, medical power of attorney is legally obliged to be the voice of the person when they can’t speak and follow through with their wishes.. Eric knew that Ridge would be the strongest in that situation and do what he asked.. if it was not experimental, and they knew the outcome, I don’t think ridge would have hesitated.. No it’s not right to allow the others to say goodbye, but I get ridges rush to go through with his decision..
