When she found out that the Embassy had made a mistake and she wasn't actually going to be deported, she wrestled for a bit about telling Liam the truth knowing that he wanted to be with Steffy. She eventually did the right thing and told him the truth and also told him that he was free to be with Steffy. Losing Liam was the result of her own manipulation to get him from Steffy.

Liam told her that it was just a marriage of convenience that did not have to affect their relationship and Steffy said no. She then dumped Liam. Ivy wanted to be with Liam and she was the one who came up with the idea of marriage to get Liam away from Steffy.
