ReplyDeleteI don't believe the only reason Carter is still at the company is because it hurt Eric and Ridge's poor little ego. They knew from the beginning he was being influenced by Hope. The Carter they knew would come around eventually, and he did. The only one guilty of betrayal is Hope.

DeleteEric and Ridge very carefully tiptoed around their criticism of Carter. It was always so much cleaner and less self-deprecating to mostly give Carter a pass. After all, he was family to them and they had put all their faith in him. So to admit they were wrong about him would be a direct reflection on them!
DeleteThat comment from Hope was meant to hurt Carter but, it does have some truth to it. They all blamed Hope for influencing Carter's decision to take over the company. They made excuses about "the Carter they know..."
DeleteThe only person who acknowledged Carter's role in the end was Steffy when she said that she is only agreeing to keep him on because it's what her dad and granddad wanted, and went on to say that she was still hurt by what he did. It made me think that if it was up to her, Carter would be gone too.

She did say she she was " she was in love with Thomas". It was an episode where Ridge and Steffy were talking to her about the way she treated Thomas. It's always past tense because these men couldn't put her up on a pedestal.

DeleteThe sum total of Carter and Hope's relationship was the takeover of FC. Now that Carter has given it back, there is no more relationship. And this is according to Hope herself.

Lynn, you put so much worth into the fact that Hope said the words to Carter but where I am from, saying the words are meaningless if they're not followed up by action.
You don't genuinely love someone then stop loving them because they can no longer give you what you want. Every time Hope uses the word to Carter these days, it's in the past tense - I LOVED you, I FELL in love with you. That's not real love. She only said it to keep Carter doing her bidding.
Hope did not tell Thomas that she was in love with him but she begged him over and over to not end their relationship.
DeleteAlso, when he and Paris returned as an engaged couple, Paris walked in on Hope at FC pleading with Thomas to come back to her. After Thomas left the office, Paris confronted Hope and Hope told her that she and Thomas were in love and she did not think that he was over what they had.
At the 4th of July party, Eric, Donna and Ridge were discussing Hope/Thomas/Paris and Donna said that Thomas is moving on too fast with Paris and that they all knew that he is rebounding from Hope, and she believed that they were still in love with each other.
So while Hope may not have said the words "in love" to Thomas, she was in love with him by her own admission and everyone knew it. Her love for Thomas was also far from the way a person loves a dog. Tch!

By her own admission, Hope was drawn to Thomas because he worshipped the ground she walked on and he was a “one woman man.” Many, many of the Thomas / Hope fans on this blog admitted that she simply “used Thomas.” And literally everyone on the show has said those very words to Hope. But now all of a sudden she was in love with him?? Sorry…I’m definitely NOT buying it!!! Even at the end after Thomas had told Hope he was leaving and she was wanting Thomas and Douglas to stay…..he offered her another chance at saying “yes” to the marriage proposal. But even knowing she would get everything back that was slipping through her fingers….SHE STILL SAID “NO” TO MARRIAGE WITH THOMAS! Those are NOT signs that she was IN LOVE WITH HIM, or that she wanted a future with him. He was a simple distraction for a while. He fed her fragile ego at the time. Nothing more.

I would even add that on yesterday's show, Brooke told Hope that she needs to take responsibility for her actions because she was the cause of everything that she is saying she lost - Liam, Thomas and Douglas (Brooke did not mention Carter). For Brooke, of all people, to include Thomas meant that she knew that Hope was in love with Thomas and was severely hurt after he walked away from her.
It was the general consensus that Hope was in love with Thomas. Even Thomas himself said that he knew all along that she was in love with him yet, she never told him until he decided to end their relationship. The fact of the matter is that Thomas was a very significant person in Hope's life, whether anyone wants to believe it or not. Trying to downplay their relationship does not minimize what they had. Well, it only minimizes it in the minds of those who did not approve of their relationship.
As for the marriage proposal, turning it down does not mean that she did not love Thomas. All it meant was that she did not want to rush into a marriage after just getting out of one, and that is totally understandable as I am certain if Carter were to propose marriage, she would turn him down too.
I think Brooke’s words were relating to things Hope had “messed up”, not lost. So Brooke was implying that the whole Thomas thing should definitely not have happened. It was clearly a bad judgement call by Hope. And Brooke most likely feels it was Hope’s fault that she and Liam are no longer together….because Hope cheated on Liam and that ultimately ended the marriage. I don’t recall Brooke specifically mentioning or not mentioning Carter. And of course the takeover of FC was a big mess-up by Hope.

Brooke over time started to accept the relationship, but she never liked it. Brooke’s whole point in Thursday’s show was to say that Hope had turned into someone Brooke didn’t even know. But in no way did that equate to Brooke saying Hope was in love with Thomas. Brooke knew that Hope would never commit to Thomas and would ultimately hurt him. So that’s not a mom who thinks her daughter is in love with a man.
DeleteShe has reflected back multiple times on her relationship with Thomas in talking to people about it and she admitted it was “exciting” and that “he made her feel the most special and loved.” But even Hope herself said she didn’t understand why she could never say the words back to him or reciprocate the devotion and love her felt for her. So that’s why when push came to shove, and he was ready to fly off with Paris, Hope still couldn’t bring herself to accept the marriage proposal - because she couldn’t picture her forever after with Thomas. And I think the only “consensus” has always been that “Hope used Thomas for her own selfish reasons.” That’s literally all the Forresters have said…..over and over and over and over again!!

Lynn, I already gave you 2 episodes in my initial response to you asking for such an episode. They were both when Thomas had returned from Paris with Paris. That was early July. Hope was making a plea to Thomas when Paris walked in and heard what Hope was telling him. After Thomas left, Paris confronted Hope about what she was saying to Thomas,. Hope then told Paris that she and Thomas were IN LOVE.

This was in the script. Both Hope and others acknowledged that Hope was in love with Thomas.
And that Google response you provided does not seem to relate to Thomas and Hope's romantic relationship last year because she did not choose Liam, she chose Thomas up until he walked away from her.
DeleteI suspect it was when she was still married to Liam during CPS-gate. Thomas and Hope were getting close because they were spending a lot of time together. She also used to spend nights at Eric's mansion with him and Douglas. And they were at the HFTF launch after-party at Eric's when Thomas tried to kiss her. She was drawn to him but chose to stay with Liam.
Its really time for the writes to get Brooke a new man, one that wont play back and forth with her.

I actually recall one episode where Brooke and Ridge were not together but he wanted to be with her and she rejected him. That was the episode where he raped her.

DeleteThis show has no idea how to portray a healthy relationship. In most shows men like Ridge who emotionally abuse women would be punished, instead he’s the main character. They need to find some writers born after the year 2000, or 1980, in fact how about an actually woman writes these characters for once instead of some middle aged man who wants to live bicuriously through Ridge as a man women will fawn over.

If I were Brooke I would look forward to a break from mean witch Steffy, and boney ass Taylor. Travel for a few months, or a year. Come back with a new attitude, and a new man. 💑

Carter should just walk away. Hope has already told him, more than once, that it's over between them yet he continues to beg and grovel.
